Rotary and Ashton join hands for the disabled

After seeing the children with cerebral palsy lying all day on mattresses, the Rotary Club of Ballito decided to supply both homes with leatherette bean bags.

Something as simple as a comfy place to sit can be a game changer in the day-to-day life of someone with cerebral palsy.

Following a successful schools choir concert held at Ashton College in August this year the Rotary Club of Ballito established that there was a need for children with cerebral palsy to be able to sit and lie in comfort.

Last year the club provided both St Luke’s and Inquolobane Homes for the disabled near KwaDukuza with wheelchairs, mattresses and standing frames. Both homes are privately run, relying on social disability grants.

After seeing the children with cerebral palsy lying all day on mattresses, the club decided to supply both homes with leatherette bean bags which were delivered recently.

The club supplied ten bags to St Luke’s and Ashton College supplied ten to Inquolobane.

As the pictures show, the bean bags are a big hit with the children.

If any member of the public wishes to make a donation to these homes for specialized equipment to give the residents an improved quality of life please contact Jeff Shinn on 0835005479 or Richard Brooks on 073 210 1235.
