Body retrieved in Glendale dam drowning

The police cadaver dog was quick to point out the body.

A man in his late twenties drowned in a dam on a farm just outside Glendale, inland of Shakaskraal, this afternoon.

The drowning victim was reportedly a temporary farm laborer who had gone swimming with a large group at around 3pm, said paramedics.

“When the swimmers left they realised that a pair of shoes and some personal belongings were not accounted for and they raised the alarm.”

“The cadaver dog [trained to locate dead bodies] from police search and rescue pointed out the spot where the body was to be found.

“The dive team then retrieved him just after 7pm,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
