Low probability of loadshedding for Friday

Despite the reprieve the power system "remains tight and vulnerable".

Eskom announced late last night that “due to further improvement in generation performance and the notable strides made in replenishing water and diesel reserves” they were unlikely to implement loadshedding today.

But don’t get too comfortable, the statement stressed that the power system “remains tight and vulnerable” so loadshedding could be implemented at short notice.

Unplanned technical breakdowns and wet coal from recent heavy rains were listed as potential reasons to resume loadshedding.

“We thank South Africans and all our customers for working with us through a very difficult five days.”

“We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period.”
