Man dies in head-on collision – Upper Tongaat

Both drivers and passengers were trapped inside the mangled wreckages.

A head-on collision on the R614 in Upper Tongaat, left one man dead and three people with critical injuries and three with minor injuries.

The accident happened in the early hours of this morning, reported paramedics.

“We received a call for a head-on collision between two light motor vehicles,” said Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue.

“On arrival the paramedics found that both drivers and front seat passengers were severely entrapped within the wreckages.

“The jaws of life were used to free the trapped patients,” said Herbst.
