Give warmth this winter with the Orphan Fund’s Soup, Socks and Snuggles campaign
Collection boxes have been set up at various schools and churches.
As the nights are getting longer and colder, it is time again for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund‘s Soup, Socks and Snuggles campaign.
The drive aims to help vulnerable children on the Dolphin Coast keep warm and cozy during those cold winter days.
In its fifth year, the Soup, Socks and Snuggles campaign asks you to collect tinned or packet soups, socks and winter clothing in any colour, shape, size and flavour.
Orphan Fund fundraising co-ordinator June Mdolo said they are appealing to the community to get involved in this year’s campaign.
“We are requesting schools and churches to ‘adopt’ an organisation for which to collect, with the hope of establishing ongoing relationships between the church or school and the community organisation.
“We are sincerely grateful to the schools and churches that have agreed to partner with The Orphan Fund and we want to thank donors in advance for your contributions.” said Mdolo.
The following schools and churches have already adopted their NGO of choice: Ashton chose Sinikithemba Organisation in Groutville and Smile with Us in Frasers; Crawford North Coast adopted Enduduzweni Drop-In centre in Melville and Practising Christian Outreach; Curro Mount Richmore chose St Vincent de Paul in Nkobongo and Summerhill House in Etete and Sheffield Pre Primary have chosen Siyakhula Creche and Pre-school in Groutville.
Three churches have joined the good cause too namely: All Souls Umhali who adopted Nkobongo Resource Centre and St Phillips AIDS Ministry Outreach; Ballito Gesinskerk chose Usizo and Destiny Life have adopted Siphiwe’s Soup Kitchen and Safe Haven For Children & Elders.
Collection boxes have been set up at these schools and churches.
