Ballito SPCA still in action as the hunt for a new home continues

The Ballito SPCA was previously based at Farmwatch R83 before having to vacate the premises at the end of May.

Despite having to find a new home, the Ballito SPCA is still in action.

The unit, a satellite of the Durban and Coast SPCA, was previously based at Farmwatch R83 and they are still looking for new premises.

The fire station drop-off point for stray cats and dogs is still operating and field officer Nathi Ngisu is on standby to collect the strays, as well as to continue with rescues and other collections.

“Our qualified Inspector, Sabelo Ngcobo, is also carrying out welfare checks and cruelty investigations. We encourage members of the public to please report cruelty to us,” said general manager Caroline Smith.

The organisation’s charity shop “The Dog Box” also remains in full swing with the help of loyal volunteers.

“This income is vital. Without this revenue stream we would be unable to continue to assist animals in need in the community. We are planning a sterilisation outreach within KwaDukuza in the near future and will keep the public informed of our efforts.”

Smith urged anyone who knows of potential sites on the Dolphin Coast to please contact her on 031 5796538 / 6500 or email info@spcadbn.org.za

For local inquiries contact Nathi on 083 6530127 and for emergencies 083 2126103.
