Maphumulo residents were happy to learn ìthat after 18 months, they will no longer have to worry about getting stuck in the mud on rainy days.
Maphumulo mayor Zibuyisile Khuzwayo-Dlamini officially turned the sod for the Eshlahleni access road and bridge at Matendeni Hall last Friday.
The road will join the D1530 with the R74 highway and the mayor said the construction of the road would encourage economic development within the community, promote public transport and improve access for emergency services.
“We hope the community will respect the constructor and give him all the cooperation and patience needed for the duration of this contract.
“This project will provide job opportunities and skills training for our local people and youth in particular,” said Khuzwayo-Dlamini.
