Beating through the bush at the Zini Beach ‘n Bush Trail run

With a two-day Bushwacker trail, a MTB 45km trail ride and two race distances to choose from, the annual event appealed to all sorts of adventure-seekers.

Local trail blazers enjoyed much success over the weekend as they managed to secure podium finishes in the annual two-day Seacom Zini Beach ‘n Bush Trail run.

Ballito runners Simone Barrett and Kylie Keaton secured hotly contested podium finishes in the two day event.

Kylie Keaton took third place in the woman’s category and fifth overall in a combined time of 03:44:40 while Simone Barrett was second woman home by a mere second in a time of 03:43:37 securing her a fourth overall position.

Hosted by Mtunzini Athletics Club the event took runners through some of the most scenic parts of the coastal town.

The course followed a route through the Zini River Estate, sections of the Mtunzini Golf Course, across the Raphia Palm boardwalks, along the magical Siyaya hiking trail, along the beach and through the Umlalazi nature reserve.

With a two-day Bushwacker trail, a MTB 45km trail ride and two race distances to choose from, the annual event appealed to all sorts of adventure-seekers.

The two-day Bushwacker trail consisted of a 27km on Saturday and the 16km Bush challenge on Sunday.
