Come one, come all: Ballito’s second Balwin Charity Hat Walk

Charities benefiting from this year's event are Brenda's Canine Fund; Give a Child a Family; Highway Hospice Association; Sea Rescue Institute; Tongaat Child & Family Welfare and Animally Haven.

Ruffle through your decorations and dust off those Christmas hats – it’s time for Ballito’s second annual Balwin Charity Hat Walk hosted at Reddam House Ballito, at 7am on Sunday, November 17.

Presented by Balwin Properties, the popular event finally made its way to Ballito last year after many successful years in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Employees, supporters, friends, family and four-legged furries are encouraged to join in the fun 5km Christmas walk wearing the themed Charity Walk T-shirt which serves as entry to the walk.

This year the charity walk logo ties in with Balwin’s emphasis on going green. By creating an awareness on recycling and greening our environment all participants are encouraged to wear some type of Christmas hat made out of recycled materials, the bigger the better.

Prizes will be awarded to the best hat and best dressed dog.

Funds raised for the event go to charities selected as beneficiaries of the event.

Last year saw more than 4 000 people attending the walks across the three regions with over R2.1 million handed out to a total of 19 charities.

Festivities continue after the walk with a jumping castle for the children and a selection of food, cold drinks and coffee vendors, as well as charity stalls. You are welcome to bring a picnic basket to enjoy after the walk.
