Tongaat CPF commends K9 top cop

The heroic and endearing commitment by Sgt Clinton Odayar of Umhlali SAPS K9 was recognised by the Tongaat and Coastal Sector Community Policing Forum (CPF) at its final meeting for 2019 at the Westbrook Cabanas on November 11.

Tongaat CPF chairman and head of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Nazir Sadack, congratulated Sgt Odayar for his personal sacrifices made in the name of community safety.

Last month Sgt Odayder’s commitment to duty was recognised by the national 2019 Integrity Icon campaign.

“No matter where I am or the time of day or night, he is at my side within ten minutes,” said Sadack who is often assisted by Sgt Odayar on local search and rescue missions.

Important matters such as critical reporting and active vigilance were addressed by Warrant Officer Marie and Tongaat station commander Colonel Moodley, following which Lt Col Msomi presented each CPF divisional sector with a certificate of appreciation for their added value to the Tongaat SAPS.

The efforts of the local CPFs and CERT have been significant in assisting the Tongaat SAPS in fighting crime and residents are urged to continue reporting crimes and informing the SAPS of any crime or suspicious activity at 10111 or CERT at 084 963 4680.

Dinner and refreshments were provided as well as a special cake from CERT in recognition of Sgt Odayar and his ability to provide outstanding search and rescue services and address community related crime issues.
