Bringing the Dolphin Crescent skate park back

Dallas Oberholzer of Indigo Youth Movement; a renowned skate boarder who has developed a skate park design and building initiative and has recently completed the highly acclaimed skate park in Hout Bay will be leading the project.

The skate park on Dolphin Crescent in Ballito is a classic part of the local backdrop, having existed for around 30 years.

But the presence of young and old skate boarders has paled over the last few years as the structure itself has shown signs of decay, together with neighbouring park facilities.

But thanks to RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors,’ Spark up the Parks’ campaign, help is on the way!

RE/MAX Dolphins’ first phase of their 2019 campaign will begin with the upgrade of Hilary Park, including the skate bowl.

The skate bowl will enjoy enormous improvement from RE/MAX.

The plan is to upgrade the bowl structure itself in terms of both utility and efficiency.

RE/MAX Dolphins’ aim is to not only bring skate competitions and events to the park and provide local skate champ Thalente Biyela a home ground to train at in his journey to becoming world champion, but also to create safe spaces, access to skate mentors and skateboarding programmes to promote the well being of South African youth.

“The skate bowl has been here for many decades and is something a lot of people could enjoy at a competitive level,” said John Pechey from RE/MAX.

The park revamp will also include a play area for children.

While RE/MAX Dolphin has raised and will continue to raise funds to fulfill their vision, they are still calling on the greater community to come forward with any assistance as far as materials and construction equipment go.

Should you be able and willing to assist, please contact RE/MAX Dolphin directly on jpechey@iafrica.com and or cathy@remaxdolphin.co.za.
