New M4 to feature over 500 horses
The Munich-based firm confirmed the minimum power figure in a press release about its upcoming M4 GT3 customer racing car, which will be offered to privateers and privateer teams around the world from the 2022 season.

For an M4 that’s a bit more reliable than the local municipal freeway, BMW has confirmed the upcoming model will churn out ‘more than 500 horsepower’ (that’s 373+ kW) from its twin-turbo 3-litre inline six-cylinder engine, while also giving us another look at the new model’s enlarged grille.
The Munich-based firm confirmed the minimum power figure in a press release about its upcoming M4 GT3 customer racing car, which will be offered to privateers and privateer teams around the world from the 2022 season.
The new GT3 model will succeed the M6 GT3 and, of course, be based on the as-yet-unrevealed production version of the next-generation M4.

“The production model BMW M4, which forms the base for the BMW M4 GT3, is powered by a six-cylinder engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo Technology that achieves more than 500 hp,” BMW said in the release, adding that the engine and chassis of the road vehicle proved the “perfect basis” for the development of the GT3 racing version.
BMW promised the S58 engine – which has already debuted in the X3 M and X4 M – would boast “explosive power delivery”.
Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW M, added it was ‘only logical’ that future top models in customer racing would be based on the next-generation M4.
“We will already be setting new standards in terms of sporting performance in production, which is why it makes sense to present the new GT3 sports car on this platform as well.”
