Man (41) drowns while swimming with friends at Tinley Manor

Three men between the ages of 28 and 38 were successfully rescued by the lifeguards but the fourth could not be resuscitated.

A 41-year-old Melville resident died after drowning at Tinley Manor beach today.

The man was swimming with his three friends at the beach when they got into difficulty.

Three men between the ages of 28 and 38 were rescued by the KwaDukuza lifeguards.

KwaDukuza lifeguard superintendent Bongani Xulu said the lifeguards performed CPR for 45 minutes.

Efforts to resuscitate the man proved fruitless and he was declaring dead by paramedics.
