Cops arrest alleged hitman wanted for Shakaskraal taxi boss murder

Police have arrested a man for the murder of 29-year-old taxi owner, Dustin Pillay.

An alleged hitman suspected to have been involved in the murder of a Dolphin Coast Taxi Association member was arrested in Durban.

Twenty-nine year old taxi owner, Dustin Pillay was murdered last September in Shakaskraal.

He was reportedly shot by two people who drove off in a white Jeep.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said that when they realised that one of their most wanted men was in the Berea area, they moved swiftly.

“The suspect was confronted by police  and arrested.

“Police found a 9mm pistol with 30 rounds of ammunition in his possession,” said Mbele.

The man, who has been on the run from police, was wanted for the theft of motor vehicles and numerous murders and robberies committed in Shakaskraal, Montclair, Umsunduzi, Mpumalanga, Inchanga and Durban Central.

He will appear in court soon and is suspected to be linked to many taxi-related crimes in the province.
