Saps Man of The Year award goes to Captain Pillay
"I owe thanks to my family, work colleagues and my community," said Captain Pillay.
He was the first-ever member of the SA Police Service to win the Integrity Idol South Africa award, and now Umhlali Saps communications officer, Captain Vinny Pillay has won the Saps Man of The Year award.
No stranger to the spotlight, Captain Pillay remains as humble as he is dedicated in giving his all both at work and with the numerous educational projects and community initiatives he has introduced.
Captain Pillay received his award at the seventh Saps national excellence awards ceremony held in Port Elizabeth last Sunday.
It was highlighted that Captain Pillay often serves as the driving force behind many community projects aimed at uplifting the underprivileged.
Not only was a new trauma centre established at Umhlali thanks to his efforts, but Captain Pillay also saw to it successfully being upgraded and continuously maintained and regularly replenished with the aid of local businesses.
It was noted that his hands-on approach has had a positive impact in the fight against crime in North Coast communities.
The trusted top cop said he was very proud.
“I owe thanks to my family, work colleagues and my community,” said Captain Pillay.
