Reduce power usage, implores Eskom
Eskom said the breakdowns had severely constrained the country's power system.

Four large generating units have broken down at Eskom, severely impacting the utility’s ability to provide electricity to the country.
Following the breakdowns, Eskom has appealed for users to reduce consumption owing to the severely constrained system.
“The breakdowns happened to a unit at Kendal, Majuba and Lethabo power stations.
“Furthermore, a unit at Duvha and Tutuka power stations have not returned to service as expected.”
The Kendall unit has been taken offline as a result.
As of 4pm this afternoon, Eskom had 31 000MW available to meet this evening’s demand, adding that units may only return to operation come the weekend.
The utility has not clarified whether loadshedding would be required.
