North Coast beaches set to possibly reopen this October

KwaDukuza municipal spokesperson, Sipho Mkhize said they were hoping to have beach bathing allowed from October 1.

While some have already been making use of North Coast beaches as a means to cool off from the boiling-point temperatures lockdown has caused, beachgoers in need of a dip may be happy to know that doing so may soon be legal.

KwaDukuza municipal spokesperson, Sipho Mkhize said they were hoping to have beach bathing allowed from October 1.

“The installation of shark nets is underway and our service staff are back ensuring the cleanliness of facilities. At the moment, we are awaiting personnel protective equipment that includes resuscitators and specialised masks,” Mkhize said.

Mkhize said beachgoers were reminded that service staff only work Mondays to Fridays between 8.30am to 2pm.

Official confirmation of beaches reopening will be made available once communicated by KDM.
