Help Thembeni’s Sanele get his smile back

A Thembeni resident who had his teeth damaged by armed robbers 3 years ago is looking for help to have his smile restored.

Sanele Ngiba (32) said he was battling with low self-esteem because of his disfigured front teeth and was unable to afford the cost of fixing them.

In 2018 Ngiba was held up at gunpoint by a group of men in Thembeni.

“They took all my money and other personal belongings and assaulted me badly. I could not even walk out of the house because of the injuries,” said Ngiba.

The father of 4 said he eventually worked up the courage to go to General Gizenga Mpanza Hospital in KwaDukuza and they checked his teeth.

There he was told to go to a private dentist because of the extensive nerve damage. 

A dentist in KwaDukuza quoted him about R16 000 to correct the damage and he set about saving for the procedure.

He now works as a waiter in Salt Rock.

Ngiba said he felt increasingly desperate about his teeth.

“I feel like locking myself inside my room every day. I am being teased everywhere I go, even at work, even in my own community.

“I know that to someone else this might sound as if I am being a sissy but this is affecting me. I am probably one of the few people who enjoys wearing a mask.”

Ngiba is appealing to anyone who can help him to pay for his dental bill.
