Holy cow! Bovine escapes manhole unscathed
The cow, named Dikazi, spent 6 hours trapped in the manhole.
It took 5 hours of digging, aided by a tractor loader backhoe (TLB), to rescue Dikazi the cow from a manhole on the R102 in Etete yesterday.
The unusual scenario surprised everyone who came upon it as noone had thought a fully grown cow able to fit through such a small hole.
All that could be seen of Dikazi was her head.

Normally a well behaved bovine, Dikazi had been thought to be grazing near her home when a passerby heard her mournful moos and alerted her owners.
Owner, Monica Lyer, thanked everyone who helped with the rescue.
“Special thanks to Afrostructure site agent Nic Wintick who sent out his TLB, ward 7 councillor, Bonginkosi Dindi, Nathi from the SPCA and all those who stopped to give a hand. Thank you,” said Monica.
Dikazi was pulled out of the manhole unharmed and as soon as she could stand up, she walked away with only small bruises to show for her ordeal.
