The gift of mobility comes to 4 disabled KwaDukuza children

The Women's International Zionist Organisation (WIZO) has donated 91 wheelchairs to children in KZN since 2018.

Nine-year-old Ayabonga Ndlela will no longer have to use crutches to walk to school, Thembeni Primary, about a kilometre from her home.

Ayabonga is one of 4 disabled children who received new wheelchairs from the Women’s International Zionist Organisation (WIZO) KZN branch last Friday.

Ayabonga Ndlela and her family receive a wheelchair from Wizo members in Thembeni.

Ayabonga was not the only recipient!

Delighted mother of another recipient Tholakele Mthiyane (30) said she used to carry her firstborn, Owami Mthiyane (10), to the clinic, which is a kilometre from their home in Nkobongo.

“I will now be able to push him around to anywhere I need to take him. So thank you so much for this gift,” said Mthiyane.

Owami Mthiyane sits in his new wheelchair for the first time.

Each child also received a copy of children’s book ‘Thuli and the Seed of Truth’ by Angelika Anastasis.

WIZO, who identified the children with the help of The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund, has donated 91 wheelchairs to children in KZN since 2018.

WIZO co-ordinator and Ballito resident Paula Green said they would continue to help local children in need of wheelchairs.

If your child is in need of a wheelchair, you can call her at 082 870 8008.
