Rumours are not true, says SPCA Dog Box charity shop

Rumours that the SPCA Dog Box charity shop will soon close have been strongly denied by the animal welfare organisation.
The Ballito-based charity shop remains open for donations and customers, with a few extra rules.
The shop has been open for more than 20 years and continues to be both an important fundraiser for the SPCA and provides the poor with good quality secondhand goods at a very low cost.
It is run exclusively on community donations and the outpouring of support since reopening last July has been tremendous, said volunteer Carol Saunders.
Space constrictions and a skeleton staff due to Covid-19, have required some new rules for donations.
The shop is still accepting small donations in store during opening hours, but anyone wanting to make a large donation must arrange for the goods to be collected.
You can phone the Dog Box at 031 579 6534 and a representative will do a home pickup on Fridays.
The shop is running a sale on secondhand books and you can easily find a book for all tastes with the extensive selection available.
“We are always grateful for donations, but we are not a halfway house for dumped goods. Please only donate things that someone else could find use for,” said Saunders.
The Dog Box is open Monday to Friday from 10am – 2pm and on Saturday from 9am -12pm, at 10 Jack Powell Road.
