UPDATE: Ballito power grid remains vulnerable
Technicians have asked residents to turn off all non-essential appliances as "the load is too high".
KwaDukuza municipality technicians are hoping to have power restored to Ballito within the next 3 hours, said ward 6 councilor Tammy Colley.
Power has been down across the town since about 10am this morning.
This was reportedly due to a power line coming down.
Technicians have estimated that power will be restored before 6pm.
Update: 3.45pm
The power returned briefly at 3.35pm before going off again.
The technicians have asked residents to turn off all non-essential appliances as “the load is too high”.

Parts of Ballito remain in darkness.
The technicians have again asked all residents to turn off all non-essential appliances due to the risk of the entire Ballito electrical network collapsing again.
