Evening loadshedding downgraded to stage 1 as Eskom recovers
This follows the improvement in generating capacity with the return of an additional unit today, while another is expected to return to service later in the day.
Eskom this afternoon shortly before 4pm indicated that loadshedding has been reduced from stage two to one.
This follows the improvement in generating capacity with the return of an additional unit today, while another is expected to return to service later in the day.
Times however remain the same, with loadshedding under stage one taking effect at 5pm – it is set to continue until 10pm this evening.
“We are currently experiencing high evening peaks, which is typical of the winter demand period. Should there be any further deterioration in generating capacity, loadshedding may be necessary,” Eskom said.
Eskom added that future loadshedding, when implemented, would most likely run between 5pm and 10pm.
A call for electricity to be used sparingly was also issued.
