Peak evening demand sees suspended loadshedding return at 5pm
It was said that while constraints had been eased to a degree, this was not enough to fully supply evening peak demands.

A return to service of 7 generation units saw to state-owned enterprise, Eskom, suspend stage 2 loadshedding but the struggling utility provider has warned that supply remains constrained.
It was said that while constraints had been eased to a degree, this was not enough to fully supply evening peak demands – loadshedding stage 2 will return as a result, starting at 5pm this afternoon and continuing until 10pm the evening.
The outlook for the remainder of the week, Eskom said, is expected to improve as more generation units are brought back to service however, high evening peaks which are typical of winter may see loadshedding return.
“We would like to request the public to continue using electricity sparingly as the system remains vulnerable,” said Eskom.
Below are your times for stage 2, which resumes today at 5pm:
- Ballito Southern Grid (Tinley Manor to Ballito & Zimbali) will go off from 8pm to 10pm.
- Stanger Northern Grid (Tinley Manor to Zinkwazi) will go off also from 8pm to 10pm.
- Mandeni will not be affected.
- Tongaat CBD and Tongaat Beach will go off at the same time, from 6pm to 8pm.
