Planned water shutdown to affect Tongaat and surrounding areas
The shutdown of the Tongaat Water Works will be handled by the municipality's water and sanitation department as part of a refurbishment project.
eThekwini Municipality has said residents of Tongaat North, Durban and surrounding areas will have their water supplies affected owing to a planned shutdown.
The shutdown of the Tongaat Water Works will be handled by the municipality’s water and sanitation department as part of a refurbishment project including the upgrade of electrical and mechanical components – this will be done on the Burbreeze and Mamba Ridge pumps, both located at the Tongaat Water Works.
According to municipal spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela, the shutdown is set for Wednesday, May 19 from 8am to 4pm.
The municipality has asked residents to use water sparingly, apologising also for the inconvenience.
The following areas will be left without water during this upgrade:
