Tried and tested, now all that’s left is for you to decide between Hollywood or Brazilian, ladies

WaxIt uses its own locally produced hypoallergenic wax too and they offer their own brand of treatment for ingrown hairs and a post-wax hair minimizing treatment to slow down hair re-growth.

I must confess I was a little nervous going in for my first wax at the new WaxIt bar at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre.

Your choice of wax esthetician feels intensely personal.

They need to be fast, discreet and the experience as painless as possible.

I am a real ninny too, with a low pain threshold, so I need to be sure I am in the hands of a professional.

But despite my nerves, I was pleasantly impressed by the professional feel of the WaxIt bar.

The heated salon bed immediately made me relax.

If I had not been going for a wax I probably would have fallen asleep.

The G-Thing wax (otherwise known as a bikini wax) was exactly what franchisee owner Sharon Andrew promised it would be: fast (I was out of there within 20 minutes) and the pain was over before you could say ‘hot wax’.

My eyebrow wax and dye were on point. In fact my eyebrows looked fantastic.

They are so blond that without makeup, normally you cannot see them at all.

For both waxes the wax was not too hot – critical with waxing to prevent burning.

The concept of a waxing bar was also new to me and I was also curious – can a salon really specialise in waxing only?

Sharon believes they can and she says her aim is to make waxing as convenient and as fast as possible.

She says they are not only attracting women but male athletes too, coming to remove hair on their legs, backs and areas ‘below the belt’ to avoid chafing.

It looks like there is more to waxing then I thought as more and more people of both genders prefer to be smooth and silky everywhere.
