It is estimated that a functional pair of school shoes will reduce absenteeism by 38% as children gain confidence, leading to better attendance and participation.
The shoes were manufactured by Nkanyiso Mngoma, a finalist in the iLembe Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur Competition in 2014 and donated with funding from Engie’s Peakers Operations.

The 185 pairs of shoes were manufactured locally in the Inkanyiso School Shoes workshop in Doornkop.
