Reduce your energy usage, or face loadshedding Eskom warns
The struggling utility provider said that if further breakdowns occur, it may implement stage 2 loadshedding at short notice.
Eskom is currently facing a shortage of generation capacity owing to a number of breakdowns and delays in the return to service of several units.
And while no loadshedding may be anticipated at the moment, the state-owned utility provider has warned that stage 1 loadshedding may be implemented if usage is not lowered.
The struggling utility provider said that if further breakdowns occur, it may have to implement stage 2 loadshedding at short notice.
Currently, if stage 1 was implemented this would run from 5pm to 10pm.
“The current outlook for the remainder of the week is expected to improve as teams work tirelessly to return more generators to service.”
At present, breakdowns total some 14 857MW of capacity while a further 2 220MW is out on planned maintenance.
