Bodasing family equips General Justice Gizenga Mpanza hospital with O2
Trust chairman and eldest surviving member, Pat Bodasing, said with the 3rd wave imminent they felt this was a much-needed piece of medical equipment to save lives.
General Justice Gizenga Mpanza Regional hospital recently received a new high flow oxygen machine donated by the Bodasing Charitable Trust in support of the fight against Covid-19.
Trust chairman and eldest surviving member, Pat Bodasing, said with the 3rd wave imminent they felt this was a much-needed piece of medical equipment to save lives.
He recalls that the intention of the trust, which was set up by the sons of the pioneering Babu Bodasing, an indentured labourer who became a sugar cane farmer, was to build a hospital in the area.
However, they did not have enough money.
“So this donation addresses a family legacy, even though on a much smaller scale. Subsequent generations serving the trust have endeavoured to serve this legacy as a social responsibility to serve the local community,” said Bodasing.
