Stage 4 loadshedding takes effect from 2pm today
Several breakdowns at Medupi, Duvha coupled with high winter demand has seen the state-owned utility left with no choice but to increase to stage 4.
Additional breakdowns have further crippled Eskom to the extent that it has had to ramp up loadshedding to stage 4 today.
Stage 4 will take effect from 2pm, and continue until 10pm this evening.
Stage 2 will resume from 10pm this evening countrywide.
Several breakdowns at Medupi, Duvha coupled with high winter demand has seen the state-owned utility left with no choice but to increase to stage 4.
“This is in order to ration the remaining emergency generation reserves, which have been depleted,” Eskom said.
It is understood that the need for stage 4 loadshedding was to maintain the stability of the national electrical grid.
Stage 4 times:
Mandini: 6pm to 8.30pm.
Tongaat Central: 4pm to 6pm.
Tongaat Beach: 4pm to 6pm.
Ballito Southern Grid (Tinley Manor to Ballito & Zimbali): 4pm to 6.30pm.
Stanger Northern Grid (Tinley Manor to Zinkwazi): 4pm to 6.30pm.
