Stage 2 loadshedding will be temporarily suspended from 8pm tonight, but Stage 1 will be implemented tomorrow and on Sunday.

Eskom was able to suspend Stage 2 earlier than expected as 4 generation units have returned to service, along with favourable weather conditions lessening demand.

While further generation units are serviced however, there will be Stage 1 from 5pm to 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday evenings.

“Breakdowns currently total 13 625MW of capacity, while planned maintenance is 1 611MW of capacity,” the power utility said.

The supply outlook is expected to improve in the coming week as further generation units return to service.

Eskom has urged South Africans to reduce electricity consumption during peak winter hours of 5pm to 10pm.

Here is how Stage 1 will affect the North Coast.

Mandini: Saturday, 6pm – 8pm. Sunday, no loadshedding.

Tongaat Central: Saturday, no loadshedding. Sunday, 5pm – 6pm.

Tongaat Beach: Saturday, no loadshedding. Sunday, 5pm – 6pm.

Umdloti Beach: Saturday, no loadshedding. Sunday, 5pm – 6pm.

Ballito Southern Grid (Tinley Manor to Ballito & Zimbali): Saturday, 5pm – 6.30pm. Sunday, no loadshedding.

Stanger Northern Grid (Tinley Manor to Zinkwazi): Saturday, 5pm – 6.30pm. Sunday, no loadshedding.
