Rising up for a better tomorrow, free of gender based violence and bullying

Through a number of programmes that include awareness, skills development and self-defence, Daniel targets youth so that the next generation of women can grow up in a safer environment.

In honour of Women’s Day, women who are significantly impacting the community were invited to a breakfast hosted by the Rise Up Movement at the iLembe Chamber on Monday.

The Rise Up Movement is an NPO founded by Josha Daniel which is focused on ending gender based violence and bullying.

At the breakfast were industry leaders from local NPOs, the police and businesses who listened to talks from retired South African footballer Mark Fish, KwaDukuza mayor, Dolly Govender and iLembe cluster commander, Major General Bernnet Nxabela.

Karla Walsh and Antonella Whittaker, 2 of the women who were instrumental in delivering 34 tons of food relief to the North Coast last week.

The event ended with awards being given to each woman for their contribution to society.
