KZN remains the fourth largest contributor to Covid-19 related deaths.

More than 15 000 staff across the government medical sector will retain their contracts in KwaZulu-Natal, provincial cabinet announced on Sunday.

Staff were appointed as part of the government’s response to Covid-19, with contracts now due to be re-examined come March 31, 2022.

Staff include nurses, administrative clerks, data capturers and general orderlies.

On August 28, KZN recorded 3 017 new cases with the average number of cases reported in the past 7 days reaching 3 319 per day.
