Salt Rock Potjie and Punch shoot-out boosts Orphan Fund
The Bamboozled team took home first prize, the Well Hung Cannibals took second place while the Englishman, Scotsman and Zulublonde team finished third.
The second annual Potjie and Punch competition held in Salt Rock on Saturday proved to be a profitable cook-off for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.
Apart from the pot masters brewing up a culinary feast, their efforts raised a whopping R20 700 in aid of the Orphan Fund’s many community support projects.
“We are are truly grateful to the judges who gave up their time to come and assist us for free,” said Orphan Fund coordinator Mpume Vilakazi.
“They were Chef Godfrey and Chef Louise from Simbithi, Nicola Coskey from Distell, who also donated wine and vodka to keep everyone hydrated, Get It magazine editor Leah Shone, Loret de Musso from Loret’s Kitchen and host Tam Conningham. We are also grateful to DJ’s Lance Robert and Charlie Landey who offered their services for free.”
