One dead, multiple injured as bakkie rolls near KwaDukuza
Eight passengers were injured in the accident.
A woman in her 60s died this morning after being thrown from the back of a rolling bakkie on the N2.
Just after 10am, a double cab bakkie travelling southbound on the N2 rolled, crossing the centre median before settling on the northbound lane just before the KwaDukuza offramp.
Aside from the woman who died before emergency services arrived on scene, multiple other passengers were also thrown onto the roadway.
A total of eight passengers were injured.
“The remaining passengers were stabilised before being transported to the necessary nearby facilities for further treatment,” said Medi Response KZN spokesperson, Paul Herbst.
It is understood from the scene that no other cars were involved and that the heavily laden bakkie lost control without a collision.
Traffic was affected in the northbound lane, drive with caution in the area.
