Eskom brings back stage 2 loadshedding until Saturday [TIMES]

Aside of the Koeberg nuclear power plant experiencing a trip during a routine test of unit 2's control rod system, breakdowns have also been noted at Arnot, Duvha, Kendal, Medupi and Tutuka power stations.

Stage 2 loadshedding will be introduced today from 4pm.

Today’s loadshedding will last until 10pm throughout the country, but from Wednesday the daily schedule will be between 5am and 10pm.

Loadshedding is expected to end on Saturday, said Eskom.

“Loadshedding has been caused by a shortage of generation capacity owing to breakdowns and delays in returning some generating units to service,” the utility provider said.

During a routine testing of the control rod system of unit 2 at Koeberg nuclear power station on Saturday, the unit tripped.

The process to return the unit to service is under way.
