KwaDukuza man loses legs in suspected hit-and-run incident

The injured man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

A vigilant motorists last night alerted authorities to a severely injured man crawling out of bushes alongside a road on the outskirts of KwaDukuza.

Responding to the scene, medical rescue personnel determined that the victim may have been hit by a car.

Advanced life support paramedics stabilised him before he was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.

“The man sustained traumatic amputations to both his legs as well as other multiple life-threatening injuries,” IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Dylan Meyrick said.

It remains unclear how long the man had been lying in the bushes before the motorist spotted him.
