Investing in education is the name of the game
Gambling company Kingdom Slots donated R150 000 to Protec Tongaat.
Protec Tongaat, an academic enrichment programme promoting math, science and English among pupils in grades 10 to 12, received a major fundraising boost last Thursday.
Gambling company Kingdom Slots donated R150 000 to support the non-profit organisation’s education projects.
Relying entirely on donations, Protec head Marion Takis said the generous contribution will have a significant positive impact on their work of providing enrichment programmes to talented but disadvantaged youth.
“Learners are selected for their talent, values, self-discipline and commitment. With this approach they are able to overcome huge obstacles and excel.”
Grade 11 pupil Senamile Myeni said Protec opens the doors to a bright future.
Sipho Dube said attending classes on Saturdays has resulted in huge subject improvements at school, especially in maths and physics.
“This is the greatest opportunity I have been given in my life,” he said.
