Loadshedding moves to stage 4 until Thursday [TIMES]

A sudden trip of three power units at Kendal Power Station caused an immediate loss of 1 920MW in generating capacity, forcing a higher level of power cuts.

A sudden electrical trip at three power units at Kendal Power Station has forced the implementation of stage 4 loadshedding.

It is the fourth loadshedding schedule change in a week after the first bout of new power cuts were announced last Tuesday.

The trip caused an immediate loss of 1 920MW generating capacity, forcing the higher level of power cuts said Eskom in a warning on social media.

Stage 4 is currently expected to last from 10am today (September 13) until 5am on Thursday (September 15), although a full statement must still be released by the power utility.

Stage 2 will then be implemented until midnight on Friday.
