Stage 4 loadshedding continues until Friday night, possibly longer [Updated Times]

If loadshedding continues at any stage on Saturday, it will include the timeslot of 9pm-11.30pm, which mirrors that of the Springbok game against Argentina (Kickoff - 9.10pm).

Loadshedding has been extended once again, with Stage 4 in place until midnight on Friday and further cuts threatened for the weekend.

This after multiple loadshedding extensions in the past week, with no firm end now in sight.

Adding to unit breakdowns at Kendal Power Station yesterday were further breakdowns at Kendal and at Majuba this morning, both owing to boiler tube leaks.

Planned maintenance at Arnot, Kriel, Matimba, Matla and Camden power stations continue to lower Eskom’s generating capacity too.

This means almost 22 000MW of power is currently offline, 5 209MW planned and a staggering 16 669MW owing to breakdowns.

“While some generation units are expected to return to service, it is necessary to extend the loadshedding to replenish the emergency generation reserves, which have been depleted by extensive utilisation over the past week,” the power utility said.

Further updates are expected on Saturday morning regarding future loadshedding hours.

If loadshedding continues at any stage on Saturday, it will include the timeslot of 9pm-11.30pm, which mirrors that of the Springbok game against Argentina (Kickoff – 9.10pm).

Be sure to make other arrangements if you do not want to miss out.
