Loadshedding stage 4 continues until Sunday
Stage 3 will then be implemented from 5am on Sunday morning until 5am on Monday morning with further loadshedding expected throughout next week.
South Africa’s power woes continue, with Eskom announcing the extension of stage 4 loadshedding until Sunday.
Stage 3 will then be implemented from 5am on Sunday morning until 5am on Monday morning with further loadshedding expected throughout the week.
Although not specifying for how long the power cuts will continue, Eskom said they will “provide the outlook for the week ahead” on Sunday.
Some units have come back online since loadshedding was extended on Wednesday, but over 23 000MW remains offline between planned repairs and breakdowns.
The most recent breakdowns include units at Kriel, Majuba and Tutuka stations over the past 24 hours.
“Eskom apologises for the continued and unfortunate loadshedding, which is implemented as a last resort in view of the shortage of generation capacity and the need to attend to breakdowns and carry out planned maintenance to return units to service,” said the power utility in a release this afternoon.
