Heavy rain warning issued for KZN coastline
It is expected the heavy rains will subside at around midnight.
The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of heavy rains which could lead to flooding.
The yellow level 2 weather warning was issued this morning (Monday), with rains predicted to subside by around midnight this evening.
The weather bureau’s warning includes the coastline from Port Shepstone through to Richards Bay.
The KwaDukuza region, included in the warning, could see localised flooding with a warning issued to avoid low-lying bridges.
“Difficult driving conditions can be expected on dirt roads and minor car accidents owing to poor visibility and slippery roads,” the warning read.
“Avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams where water is above one’s ankles. In buildings, move valuables to a safe place above the expected flood level.”
Rural area residents have been urged to relocate animals to a safe place or higher grounds.
