Your blood donation could be the reason someone lives another day
The SANBS aims to collect 3 000 units of blood per day to ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply in the healthcare system, taking 450ml from donors at a time.
In as little as five to ten minutes you are able to give someone the gift of life – blood.
With just 1.9 days’ worth of blood supply available in KwaZulu-Natal, South African National Blood Service (SANBS) donor relations practitioner, Dennis Nongoma, urged those able to donate blood to do so when the SANBS was in town.
“At the moment we really need to boost blood reserves and we would especially like to encourage O-negative blood donors to stop by.”
One can find the SANBS locally in Ballito at the Ballito Library every second Tuesday of the month from 10am to 6pm.
