One dead, one critical after accident near Shakaskraal
It is the third fatal accident in three days after a head-on collision near the Tugela River this morning and a solo accident near Driefontein on Thursday evening.
A man in his late 40s died this evening after the car which he was driving was hit from the side on the Tinley Manor link road near Shakaskraal.
The accident occurred just before 6pm this evening – it is the third fatal accident in three days after a head-on collision near the Tugela River this morning and a solo accident near Driefontein on Thursday evening.
It is currently unclear what the circumstances of the accident were, but a single person driving a bakkie appears to have hit the car containing two people side-on.
“On arrival of paramedics, the driver was unfortunately determined to be deceased, with the passenger heavily entrapped in the vehicle. The passenger – also a man in his 40s – was freed but found to be in critical condition,” said Medi Response KZN spokesperson, Paul Herbst.
He was transported to hospital after being stabilised by paramedics.
The driver of the bakkie was not injured.
