Repairs start on twice collapsed Georgina Road in Ballito
The washaway also impacted Siza Water which could only access one of its pump stations on foot.
Work to repair a portion of Ballito’s washed away Georgina Road began on Monday.
Ward 30 councillor, Jack Abrahams, said the damaged stretch just beyond the Dunes Estate was washed away during the April floods.
It was repaired in July, but repeated heavy rains since resulted in another collapse in September.
The washaway also impacted Siza Water which could only access one of their pump stations on foot.
Siza operations manager Kobus Fourie said as both stormwater and sewer services were impacted, they were working in tandem with KwaDukuza municipality to finalise repairs to resume proper services.
The repairs will also put to bed fears that a bordering wall of the Dunes Estate could collapse if the road was left to deteriorate further.
