Ballito Christmas Country Fair celebrates 70th anniversary
The non-profit charity organisation was started by a group of farmers' wives in 1952 and helps with the needs of community initiatives between the Tugela and Tongaat rivers.
The popular annual Christmas Country Fair will celebrate its 70th anniversary at Collisheen Estate on November 24-26.
Showcasing the work of leading creatives, designers, bakers and foodie experts, the Country Fair is one of the North Coast’s largest charity drawcards, serving as a fundraiser for about 28 projects, all of which rely heavily on the event for financial support.
The non-profit organisation was started by a group of farmers’ wives in 1952 to help buy a car for a clinic sister. It was so successful it became an annual event and helps with the needs of community initiatives between the Tugela and Tongaat rivers.
Member of the organising team, Michelle Blake, said they had secured a fantastic entertainment line-up and will have a dedicated children’s area set up for the Saturday featuring a variety of fun activities.
“With 146 vendors, fantastic shopping, exceptional culinary delights and craft drinks will ensure a day to remember,” she said.
This year’s event will be a cashless affair and vendors will only accept payment via card or Zapper.
Tickets are priced at R70pp. Operating times – Thursday 9am to 4pm, Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 8.30am to 2.30pm.
