Hirsch’s launches start-up support initiative for small businesses

Hirsch's Homestores CEO, Richard Hirsch, said they love the concept of giving other start-ups a platform to promote their businesses.

In a show of support for South Africa’s entrepreneurs, particularly SMMEs, Hirsch’s Homestores launched their first ‘Start-up Celebration’ event on the North Coast at the Ballito branch recently.

Headlining the event was social media marketing expert Sunil Sewpersadh, who started his company Social Clarity on a shoestring and has slowly built up a clientele that spans South Africa.

Hirsch’s Homestores CEO, Richard Hirsch, pointed out that Hirsch’s was also founded by his parents Allan and Margaret Hirsch 43 years ago as a start-up with a mere R900 saved. It has since grown into a billion rand business.

“We love the concept of giving other start-ups, who sometimes battle to find ways to obtain exposure, a platform to promote their businesses,” said Hirsch.

Sewpersadh spoke on how social media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube were important to consider when marketing products, creating interest and interacting with customers.
