Popular Balwin Charity Hat Walk benefits charities
Balwin Properties CEO and foundation chairman, Steve Brookes, thanked everyone involved and said nationally R2-million had been raised through these events.
Hundreds participated in the annual 5km Balwin Charity Hat Walk in Ballito on Sunday.
R400 000 was donated to eight charities, including The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.
Each organisation received R50 000.

Balwin Properties CEO and foundation chairman, Steve Brookes, thanked everyone involved and said nationally R2-million had been raised through these events.
The aim is to reach R2.5-million next year.

“We know that times are tough and the economy is not in a good shape, but we plead with benefactors to dig deep to allow us to support as many charities as possible,” said Brookes.
Orphan Fund co-ordinator Charmaine Premlal thanked the Balwin Foundation for the donation, which will be channelled towards foundation phase education, the area identified by the Orphan Fund as the most impactful in breaking the poverty cycle.

“We rely exclusively on funds raised through donations to support the ever-increasing list of beneficiaries in the iLembe district. We are honoured to have been selected as a beneficiary of the Balwin Foundation for 2022, making it possible to continue providing opportunities for the children in our communities,” said Premlal.

Other organisations that benefitted were: Brenda’s Canine Fund, Linc Foundation, The Rise up Movement, Light Up A Home, Summerveld Hound Resort, Dolphin Striders and Khula Natural Health Clinics.
