It could be the hottest car to have hit South African shores this 2022 and while the price of just over R1.1-million may be a tad too high for many, those who can afford it will be giddy with joy.
The BMW M240i’s price tag is definitely a steep one, but you get what you pay for.
From its luxury, to the sheer roar to life of the engine, and the brutal power readily available at the most subtly applied pressure from your right big toe, this is a dream car for many BMW enthusiasts.
This is the two-door coupé you’d take a look at if kids weren’t a factor, even though they could fit in the back.
Let’s take a look at the interior, which features exactly what we’ve grown accustomed to from the German manufacturer. It’s made for sport, beautifully highlighted with the M Sport steering wheel and impressive finishes on the seats.
While simplistic in its design, the interior includes a set of analogue gauges, fully digital instrument panel and a head-up display, easily noticeable from its supportive driver’s seat.
Performance wise, the M240i is not simply pure power, but consistently available power which fails to drop even when tackling hills in higher gears.

It features a 3.0-litre turbocharged six cylinder petrol engine and all-wheel drive. With multiple drive modes to pick from, this car could be for play, while still making it fit for a shopping trip.
With a top speed of 250km/h however, one would need to know when and how to act like an adult and contain oneself on the road, which brings us to it’s 4-star European New Car Assessment Programme rating, meaning it is pretty safe.
Key safety features for the M240i include standard front and rear collision warning and automated emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go technology is also available.
