North Coast asset managers win top investment awards
TRG head of investment, Devin Shutte, said as the only asset managers on the KZN North Coast, they were incredibly proud to represent the local community.
North Coast wealth management company, The Robert Group (TRG), shone at the recent Citywire DFM Awards ceremony in Cape Town.
The company was named top investment manager in two categories.
The awards recognise discretionary fund managers’ (DFMs) risk-adjusted performance over the last three years in the funds they manage.
TRG claimed the top award in the SA Multi-Asset Flexible category, as well as the SA Multi-Asset High Equity category. The multi-asset high equity category is the most competitive sector as most Balanced Funds are represented here.
Traditionally, top asset managers have been almost exclusively based in Cape Town and Johannesburg, making this award quite a coup for the North Coast.

“Since 2014 we have been building and managing our global investment range for clients. Our investments cater for various risk profiles – from cash solutions to a managed crypto fund.
“We are humbled by this recognition, but since the investment industry is so dynamic and fast-paced, we are focused on continuing to innovate and enhance our investment offering for our clients.”
The concept of discretionary fund managers may not be known to many investors, but they are extensively used by financial advisers who want to partner with investment specialists.
TRG managing director Lance Robert said: “The effort we have put into the performance of our funds has never been about achieving awards. Our goal has always been to serve our community by being the most responsible custodian of our clients’ wealth, and to be recognised in this fashion is icing on the cake for us.”
